Main Interpretive Issue:
How To Understand The Invasion Recorded In Ezekiel 38,39

Different Views On How To Understand The Invasion Recorded In Ezekiel 38-39
1. There Is No Literal Fulfillment: The Idealistic Or Symbolic Approach
2. It Is Fulfilled Symbolically In The Church
3. It Was Already Fulfilled In History
4. It Will Happen Sometime During The Church Age; Likely At The End
5. The Battle Occurs Before The Rapture Of The Church And The Great Tribulation
6. It Occurs After The Rapture, Before The 70th Week Of Daniel (Great Tribulation)
7. This Takes Place Early In The Great Tribulation, After The Rapture
8. It Occurs In The Middle, Or Near The Middle, Of The Final Seven Year Period
9. These Chapters Take Place At The Battle Of Armageddon
10. It Is At Two Different Times: Chapter 38 At The Middle Of Tribulation, Chapter 39 End Of Tribulation
11. The Conflict Occurs After The Second Coming But Before The Millennium
12. The Events Take Place At The Beginning Of The Millennium
13. These Things Occur At The End Of Millennium

THE KEY IN ANSWERING THE QUESTION WHEN:
After many days you will be summoned; in the latter years you will come to a land restored from the ravages of war, with many peoples gathered on the mountains of Israel that had long been in ruins (Ezekiel 38:8).
When? It Will Be In The Last Days (Still In The Future)

If Future . . . Who Are The Participants, Where Do They Come From?

Who Will Invade?

Ancient Name Modern Equivalent
Rosh Russia or Chief
Magog Central Asia
Meshech and Tubal Turkey (also southern Russia and Iran)
Persia Iran
Cush Northern Sudan
Put Libya
Gomer Turkey
Beth-togarmah Turkey
Many peoples Other Islamic nations (Possibly Iraq)

Some Conclusions We Can Make From Interpreting This Prophecy Literally

1. The nation of Israel will exist in the last days.
2. The people of Israel will return to their ancient homeland after being away for a long time.
3. When they return they will form a state (some political entity)
4. Their borders will include the mountains of Israel
5. They will come back in unbelief in Jesus
6. The land they return to will have been decimated by war
7.Yet, once back in the land they will create great wealth
8. Seven or eight nations will invade them because Israel has something they want and need.
9. None of the nations specifically mention border Israel
10. The leader of this coalition, Gog, will desire to take something that does not belong to him.
11. Their invasion will raise a protest from Sheba and Dedan (modern Saudi Arabia)
12. There will be no superpower who can or will intervene on their behalf
13. When these nations enter the Promised Land, then God will intervene and completely destroy their armies (Ezekiel 39:2)
14. The Lord will also destroy the main structures in their countries (Ezekiel 39:6)
15. At that time, they will begin to understand the God of Israel working on their behalf
