Resolving Scientific Difficulties in Scripture

Don Stewart    We now arrive at the second book in our series Resolving Scientific Difficulties In Scripture. This volume begins by looking at a number of specific questions with respect to the Bible and its relationship to science. We will examine what science can and cannot do, the relationship of the Bible to science, the way in which scientific statements should be understood. Once we have this understanding, we will then examine some of the passages in Scripture, regarding science and nature, that have caused difficulties. We will demonstrate that these scientific difficulties all have a resolution that is not unscientific.

More From The Bible & Science

God's Design or Blind Chance? Biblical Creationism or Atheistic Evolution?
Don Stewart    This is the first volume in our five-book series “The Bible and Science: Are They in Conflict?” In this book we look at the issue of our origins: Are we here by blind chance or by God’s design? In other words, biblical creationism or atheistic evolution? Also, we look at the important question, “Where do we go to find answers about our origins?”
In the Beginning: The Creation and The Fall (Genesis 1-3)
Don Stewart    In this book, we look at one of the most important sections of the entire Bible; the first three chapters of Genesis. Indeed, in them we find the only firsthand explanation of the origin of our planet, ourselves, sin, and the promise of a Savior. Again, we cannot overemphasize the importance of these chapters for they are foundational for the rest of Scripture.
The Sons of God, the Flood, the Tower of Babel (Genesis 4-11)
Don Stewart    Previously, in our first three books of this series, we have looked at the subjects of creation/evolution, responded to certain difficulties in the area of science and the Bible, and have examined the first three chapters of the Book of Genesis. We now move on to events after the Fall of humanity through the events of the Flood and the Tower of Babel. These early years of the earth were in preparation for the main story of Scripture—God and His relationship to the descendants of Abraham. Many questions arise from the accounts in these chapters—both scientific as well as historical. Therefore, it is important that we examine these chapters carefully to discover what the Lord desires to teach us.
The Days of Genesis and the Age of the Earth
Don Stewart    In this final book of our series on the Bible and science, we will concentrate on two of the most controversial and often-discussed subjects in the Bible/Science debate—the meaning of the word “day” in the first chapter of the Book of Genesis and the age of the earth. As we shall see, there are a number of different views that Bible-believers hold on these fascinating subjects. Therefore, it is important that we take a more in-depth, though not exhaustive, look at the issues in an attempt to discover what the Scriptures are revealing to us about these fascinating topics.
